New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the recently introduced NextGen GST reforms, calling them a major step towards simplifying the tax system, boosting transparency, and improving the ease of living for citizens.
Speaking at an event on Friday, the Prime Minister said the reforms reflect the government’s vision of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), where technology-driven systems reduce compliance burdens and ensure fair benefits for both consumers and businesses.
He emphasized that the new GST framework aims to eliminate inefficiencies, curb tax evasion, and strengthen the country’s economic foundation. The Prime Minister added that by widening the tax base and ensuring smoother transactions, the reforms will help generate more resources for welfare schemes and infrastructure development.
Highlighting the cooperative role of states in GST’s success, he urged industry and traders to pass on the benefits of reduced tax rates to ordinary people, ensuring that the reforms translate into tangible savings for households.
