Pathanamthitta: President Droupadi Murmu has postponed her much-anticipated visit to the Sabarimala temple, prompting authorities to resume the virtual queue booking system that had been temporarily suspended for May 18 and 19.
The cancellation comes against the backdrop of rising India-Pakistan border tensions. Extensive preparations were underway for the President’s visit, originally scheduled for May 19, but security concerns led to a last-minute change in plans. Police formally informed the Travancore Devaswom Board of the decision to call off the visit.
Travancore Devaswom Board President P. S. Prasanth confirmed that all arrangements had been in place and expressed hope that the President would visit the temple at a later date.
Meanwhile, the temple will open on May 14 at 4 p.m. for the Idavamasa Pooja. Devotees can look forward to daily special rituals, including Udayasthamana Pooja, Padipooja, and Kalabhabhishekam, continuing through May 19.
