New Delhi: Narendra Modi on Thursday emphasized the urgent need for reservation for women in legislative bodies, stating that it would strengthen Indian democracy and make it more inclusive and participatory.
The Prime Minister noted that any delay in implementing such a measure would be “deeply unfortunate,” highlighting its importance in ensuring greater representation of women in decision-making processes.
Sharing his views through a post on X, Modi said that women’s reservation is essential to enhance the vibrancy of democratic institutions.
He also referred to a recently published Op-Ed article in which he elaborated on his vision and thoughts regarding the issue, reiterating his commitment to promoting gender equality in governance.The call for women’s reservation has been a long-standing demand in India, with advocates arguing that it would lead to more balanced and representative policymaking.
