PM Modi to Distribute 65 Lakh Property Cards Under SVAMITVA Scheme on January 18

In a major step towards empowering rural India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute over 65 lakh property cards to property owners across more than 50,000 villages in 230 districts spanning 10 states and two Union Territories on January 18, 2025. The event will take place at 12:30 PM via video conferencing.

Launched on April 24, 2020, the SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) Scheme aims to provide rural households with official ‘Record of Rights’ for their residential properties. This initiative leverages advanced drone technology to conduct accurate property surveys, streamlining land ownership documentation.

The scheme is designed to boost rural economic growth by enabling property monetization, improving access to institutional credit, reducing property disputes, facilitating better property tax assessments, and supporting comprehensive village planning.

So far, drone surveys have been completed in over 3.17 lakh villages, covering 92% of the target. Approximately 2.25 crore property cards have been prepared for over 1.53 lakh villages. Full saturation has been achieved in Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Tripura, Goa, Uttarakhand, and Haryana, with surveys completed in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh.

This mass distribution of property cards is expected to empower millions of rural property owners, fostering economic stability and development in rural communities.
