New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s pivotal role as the “first responder” for the Maldives during a significant bilateral meeting with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu at Hyderabad House in Delhi. Marking President Muizzu’s inaugural visit to India since taking office, the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in security, trade, and infrastructure.
PM Modi highlighted India’s unwavering support for the Maldives, particularly in times of need, underscoring the strong bond between the two nations. President Muizzu expressed his desire to further bolster ties, particularly in economic development and maritime security. The discussions also touched upon joint projects under India’s “Neighborhood First” policy, emphasizing India’s commitment to regional stability and security in the Indian Ocean.
