New Delhi — Marking the 79th Independence Day with a major push for job creation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) — a ₹1 lakh crore initiative aimed at transforming employment opportunities for India’s youth. The scheme targets over 3.5 crore new jobs in two years, with 1.92 crore roles reserved for first-time job seekers. Under Part A, fresh private-sector employees earning up to ₹1 lakh per month will get ₹15,000 in two installments, encouraging financial stability and savings. Part B incentivizes employers with up to ₹3,000 per month per new hire for two years (extended to four for manufacturing), provided they expand their workforce and maintain the hires. Disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer and PAN-linked accounts, the plan not only boosts hiring but also aims to formalize the workforce, strengthen social security, and drive inclusive growth. Already in effect from August 15, 2025, PM-VBRY is being hailed as one of India’s most ambitious employment reforms.
