Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai, welcoming innovators, industry leaders and investors from across the world.
Addressing the gathering, Modi highlighted the rapid growth of India’s fintech sector and its growing importance to the vision of a Viksit Bharat. He said the sector’s expanding youth participation, innovation and risk-taking spirit strengthened his confidence in India’s future.
Referring to global economic challenges, including conflicts, trade tensions and supply-chain pressures, Modi highlighted India’s 7.8 per cent economic growth in the April-June quarter as a sign of the country’s resilience.
He also welcomed Japan’s recent upgrade of India’s sovereign credit rating to the A- category, attributing the progress to structural reforms and macroeconomic stability.
Highlighting India’s digital transformation, Modi said the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) remains central to the country’s fintech revolution.
