PM Modi Hails Massive Support for PM Internship Scheme, Paving the Way for a Skilled India

In a resounding endorsement of youth empowerment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 17, 2025, praised the overwhelming response to the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS). Launched on December 2, 2024, the scheme aims to bridge the gap between academics and industry by offering structured internship opportunities across diverse sectors.

PM Modi highlighted that the PMIS is a crucial step in shaping a future-ready workforce, fostering innovation, and unlocking the immense potential of India’s youth.

A recent TeamLease Edtech survey revealed that 81% of companies support expanding the PMIS across industries. However, only 73% of these firms plan to absorb up to 10% of interns as full-time employees, citing financial constraints and the need for more focused university programs.

Designed to provide real-time industry exposure, financial support, and hands-on experience, the PMIS ensures young professionals are equipped with the skills required for today’s dynamic job market. The official portal offers comprehensive details on registration, scheme guidelines, and financial aid, making it easily accessible to aspiring interns.

This visionary initiative aligns seamlessly with the government’s mission of building a “Skilled and Employable Bharat”, ensuring inclusive access to skill development and boosting employability. The enthusiastic backing from both the government and corporate sectors highlights a united effort to nurture India’s next generation of innovators and leaders.
