Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday rolled out Bihar’s new employment-linked welfare scheme by directly transferring ₹10,000 each into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women across the state.
Calling the initiative a major step toward women’s empowerment and self-reliance, Modi said it would enable women, especially in rural Bihar, to pursue small businesses, self-employment, and income-generating ventures.
Turning the spotlight on the past, the Prime Minister attacked the former RJD government, alleging that women had suffered the most during its years of “lawlessness and corruption.” He urged the people of Bihar to pledge never to return to that era of darkness.
Modi emphasized that women’s financial independence was at the heart of his government’s development vision, stressing that empowering women would accelerate Bihar’s path to growth and prosperity.
