Dubai [UAE], February 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the World Governments Summit (WGS) in Dubai, emphasized the imperative of inclusivity and urged nations to amplify the voices and priorities of the Global South in global decision-making arenas. He called for comprehensive reforms in global governance institutions to better represent the developing world.
During his address, PM Modi underscored the necessity for restructuring global governance institutions to reflect the concerns of the developing world and enhance the participation of the Global South in global decision-making processes.
“We have to promote the concerns of the developing world and the participation of the Global South in global decision-making,” stated PM Modi, emphasizing the need for a paradigm shift in global governance to accommodate the evolving needs of developing nations.
Furthermore, he stressed the significance of upholding national sovereignty while adhering to international law. PM Modi reiterated the importance of listening to the voices of the Global South, advocating for their priorities, and extending support to countries in need.
The Prime Minister proposed the development of global prototypes to address emerging challenges such as Artificial Intelligence, cryptocurrency, and cybercrime, underscoring the necessity for international collaboration in tackling these issues.
Commending the progress of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), particularly Dubai, PM Modi acknowledged its transformation into a global hub for the economy, commerce, and technology.
Additionally, PM Modi shared his governing philosophy of “minimum government, maximum governance,” emphasizing the need for minimal government interference in people’s lives.
