Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, will file his nomination papers today for the upcoming Assembly elections. He will submit his nomination as a candidate of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) at the District Registrar’s Office in Thalassery at 11 am.
This will be the third time Vijayan is contesting from the Dharmadam constituency. The residents of Gandhi Bhavan had already handed over the amount to Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday to cover the nomination deposit required for filing his election papers. Vijayan is also the first candidate to file nomination papers in Kannur.
CPM is aiming for a bigger majority this time compared to the last election. However, rebel candidates who have left the party are expected to pose a challenge. The contest is likely to be tougher than in the previous two elections.
