Guruvayuer, March 17 (IVC) Pallissery Madhusoodanan Namboodiri has been selected as the Chief Priest (Melshanthi) of the famous Sree Krishna temple here .
He was selected by drawing lot out of 45 aspirants, the temple sources said. In all 50 aspirants for the covetous post were interviewed and 45 were declared qualified.
The draw of lot was held in the presence of devotees. Guruvayur Devaswom Managing Committee (GDMC) Chairman, Dr V K Vijayan, administrator, K P vinayan, Deputy Administrators and GDMC members were also present on the occasion, the temple sources said.
Fifty-three year old P S Madhusoodanan Namboodiri had served Chief priest of the Guruvayur temple earlier from Apri 01, 2017 for six months, the sources added. Madhusoodanan had served Melshanthi of the Viyyoor Siva temple for 11 years, 22 years for Ppanangattukara Bhagavathy temple and Chottanikkara keezhkavu temple for one year.
At present, he was the Melshanthi of the Dhanwanthari temple at Nelluvai near his residence. The term of the Guruvayur temple Melshanthi is for six months. He will assume the office of the Chief Priest on March 31.
