Operation D-Hunt: Kerala Police Crack Down on Narcotics Network in Thiruvananthapuram

In a major offensive against drug trafficking, the Kerala Police have launched an intensified anti-narcotics campaign dubbed Operation D-Hunt, targeting the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram. Between February 22 and April 13, 2025, the city police registered 488 cases and arrested 501 individuals as part of the sweeping crackdown aimed at dismantling drug supply chains and intercepting traffickers bringing contraband across inter-state borders.

Led by the State Anti-Narcotics Task Force under ADGP (Law and Order) Manoj Abraham, and coordinated by the NDPS Coordination Cell and district police chiefs, the operation is part of a wider state-level drive that has seen over 7,000 arrests across Kerala since its launch.

Key actions include targeted raids on April 14 that led to the inspection of 1,808 individuals, seizing quantities of cannabis and cannabis-laced bidis, and raids on 25 spas and massage parlours in Thiruvananthapuram, uncovering illegal activities and recovering drugs like MDMA.

To boost public participation, authorities have launched a 24-hour Anti-Narcotics Control Room (9497927797), encouraging citizens to report drug-related activities anonymously. With a sharp focus on surveillance, inter-agency coordination, and community engagement, Kerala Police continue to tighten the net on narcotics and reaffirm their commitment to eradicating the drug menace.
