NIA Complaint Filed Against Rapper Vedan Over Alleged Insult to PM Narendra Modi in Song

Palakkad: Controversy erupted as BJP Palakkad Municipal Councillor Mini Krishna Kumar lodged a formal complaint with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) accusing rapper Vedan of insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi through his song lyrics. The complaint alleges that Vedan referred to the PM as a “deceptive nationalist,” sparking demands for a thorough investigation. A parallel complaint has also been submitted to the Home Minister, with Mini Krishna Kumar sharing the details publicly on social media.

This development follows a series of sharp criticisms from Hindu Aikya Vedi and RSS leaders, including recent condemnations by Hindu Aikya Vedi’s K.P. Sasikala and RSS leader N.R. Madhu, targeting Vedan’s outspoken remarks.

The controversy gained momentum after a musical event organized as part of Kerala government’s anniversary celebrations in Palakkad, where Hindu Aikya Vedi leaders claimed rap music has no roots in SC-ST communities and accused Vedan’s lyrics of disrespecting societal values.

In response, Vedan defended his art and political views, stating that the attacks stem from fear of his political stance. He emphasized that questioning his choice to perform rap music is undemocratic and clarified that democracy and the ideology of “triple Hindutva politics” are unrelated.
