Maria Corina Machado Wins 2025 Nobel Peace Prize

Stockholm: The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to Maria Corina Machado, a Venezuelan human rights activist. The award recognizes her relentless struggle for democracy and her efforts to promote the democratic rights of the people of Venezuela.

Machado, who currently serves as an opposition leader in Venezuela, has been at the forefront of the movement advocating for a fair and peaceful transition from authoritarian rule to democracy in her country. The Nobel Committee noted that she has worked tirelessly to advance justice, peace, and democratic values despite facing immense challenges.

This year, the Nobel Committee received 338 nominations, including 244 individuals and 94 organizations.

Notably, former U.S. President Donald Trump had claimed that he deserved to receive the Nobel Prize this year.
