Low Pressure Triggers Heavy Rain: Yellow Alert in 7 Kerala Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to witness another spell of heavy showers as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a yellow alert in seven districts — Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam.

Isolated heavy rainfall, measuring 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours, is likely, the IMD said. Along with rains, strong winds blowing at 30–40 kmph are expected across parts of the state till September 27.

Authorities have also banned fishing activities along the Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep coasts until September 27, warning of rough seas and winds up to 60 kmph. Residents are advised to remain alert and follow official safety guidelines.
