PM Modi Launches ‘Muft Bijli Yojana’ – Offers 300 Units of Free Electricity Monthly; Application Process Revealed

In a significant move towards sustainable development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana’ on Tuesday, aiming to provide free electricity to its beneficiaries. Under this initiative, the central government will invest ₹75,000 crores to offer 300 units of free electricity per month to eligible households.

In a social media post on platform X, PM Modi expressed the project’s objectives, stating, “To further sustainable development and people’s well-being, we are launching the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This project, with an investment of over Rs. 75,000 crores, aims to light up 1 crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.”

Application Process: How to Apply for PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana?

Visit the official website of PM Suryaghar: pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
Click on “Apply for Rooftop Solar.”
Register by providing details such as State, District, Consumer Account Number, and Electricity Distribution Company.
Complete the Rooftop Solar application form.
Await feasibility approval from the DISCOM (Distribution Company).
Upon receiving feasibility approval, install the solar plant through any registered vendors in your DISCOM.
After installation, submit plant details and apply for a net meter.
Following net meter installation and DISCOM inspection, a commissioning certificate will be generated from the portal.
Once you receive the commissioning report, submit bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal.
The subsidy will be credited to your bank account within 30 days.
PM Modi, through a series of X posts, also provided a direct link for interested individuals to apply for the scheme. The ‘Muft Bijli Yojana’ is expected to benefit numerous households and contribute to the broader objective of sustainable energy access.

This initiative represents a significant step towards ensuring electricity access for all, aligning with the government’s commitment to promoting clean energy and enhancing the well-being of citizens.
