Indian Railways has rolled out real-time ticket booking (current reservation) for the Vande Bharat Express service via Alappuzha, enabling travelers to book seats even after the train departs from its origin station. The facility is now available on both the Thiruvananthapuram–Mangaluru and Mangaluru–Thiruvananthapuram routes. Tickets can be booked through online platforms or at station counters up to 15 minutes before the train’s arrival, subject to seat availability. This initiative, part of Southern Railway’s broader strategy to enhance accessibility, has also been extended to other major Vande Bharat routes including Chennai–Nagercoil, Nagercoil–Chennai, Coimbatore–Bengaluru, Mangaluru–Madgaon, Madurai–Bengaluru, and Chennai–Vijayawada. The move is expected to significantly ease last-minute travel woes and maximize seat utilization on these high-demand premium trains.
