Kerala’s War on Drugs: Over 4,200 Arrested in Massive Crackdown

Thiruvananthapuram: In a sweeping anti-narcotic operation, Kerala Police’s “Operation D-Hunt” has resulted in the arrest of over 4,200 individuals across the state in the last two weeks. The large-scale crackdown comes in response to a surge in drug-related crimes, prompting authorities to tighten the noose around narcotics networks.

With more than 4,000 cases registered, law enforcement agencies have aggressively targeted drug peddlers, suppliers, and users. Among those arrested, several individuals from Karnataka have been identified, raising serious concerns about cross-border drug trafficking.

Police teams, along with the Anti-Narcotic Squad, have been conducting raids in major cities, rural areas, and border regions, focusing on drug hotspots. The arrests include repeat offenders, members of organized crime rings, and first-time users, exposing the deep-rooted presence of the drug trade in the state.

Authorities have intensified border surveillance and intelligence-sharing to dismantle interstate drug cartels. Special focus has been placed on tracking supply chains and preventing the further inflow of narcotics into Kerala.

Reiterating its zero-tolerance policy against drug-related crimes, the Kerala government has vowed to make the state drug-free. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has emphasized the need for strict action, urging public cooperation in reporting drug-related activities.

With Operation D-Hunt in full force, authorities have warned of more arrests and seizures in the coming weeks, as Kerala intensifies its war on drugs.
