Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is set to begin the distribution of Welfare Pension and social security funds for September from Thursday, September 25. Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal announced that a total of ₹841 crore has been allocated, benefitting around 62 lakh people, each receiving ₹1,600.
Of the total beneficiaries, 26.62 lakh will receive the pension directly in their bank accounts, while the remainder will get their funds delivered at home via cooperative banks. For 8.46 lakh beneficiaries under the National Pension Scheme, the central government’s contribution will be credited directly through the PFMS system.
The minister also noted that the state has so far spent ₹42,841 crore on pension disbursements, ensuring timely financial support for vulnerable sections of the population.
