Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor and recent cross-border incidents, the Kerala government has heightened security across critical infrastructure and strategic locations in the state.
Security measures have been significantly tightened at airports, including Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, in response to intelligence alerts. The under-construction Vizhinjam International Seaport, a key strategic asset, is under close surveillance with increased patrolling and restricted access.
Railway stations, especially in major cities, have also come under enhanced monitoring. Security personnel have been deployed to conduct thorough checks and monitor passenger movements. The Southern Naval Command in Kochi and the Indian Air Force base in Thiruvananthapuram are on high alert, with coordination strengthened between central and state agencies.
Vital establishments such as the Cochin Shipyard and the LNG terminal in Kochi have been placed under high security. Surveillance systems have been reviewed and emergency response protocols have been activated.
Officials from the Home Department and police have confirmed that this is a precautionary step aimed at ensuring public safety and protecting infrastructure in the event of any spillover from the Indo-Pak conflict. Intelligence agencies continue to monitor the situation, and the state remains in close touch with the Centre for any further instructions.
