Thiruvananthapuram: In a major move impacting thousands of state government employees, the Kerala government has constituted the 12th Pay Revision Commission to examine and recommend revisions to salary structures and service benefits. Former Chief Secretary V P Joy has been appointed as the Chairman of the Commission.
The panel also includes Advocate M. Rajagopalan Nair and retired Additional Secretary Sreelatha Sukumaran as members, while Finance Department Additional Secretary V.R. Shobha will serve as the Commission’s Secretary. The formation of the Commission was announced in the State Budget, signaling the government’s commitment to revisiting employee pay scales.
Finance Minister K N Balagopal stated that the Commission has been tasked with submitting its report within three months. The minister assured that once the recommendations are received, the government will act swiftly to implement them in a time-bound manner. A detailed government order outlining the Commission’s terms of reference is expected soon.
The development has generated keen interest among state employees, as the Commission’s recommendations could bring significant changes to salary structures and benefits, shaping the financial framework of the state’s workforce for the coming years.
