In the first ten months of 2024, Kerala reported 40,821 road accidents, resulting in 3,168 fatalities and 45,657 injuries, according to data from the Kerala Police.
This marks a significant increase from previous years. In 2023, the state recorded 48,141 road accidents, a 9.6% rise from 2022, which had 43,910 incidents.
Nationally, Kerala ranked third in road accidents in 2022, with 43,910 incidents, following Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
The Kerala Police have been actively working to reduce these numbers through various road safety initiatives and awareness campaigns. However, the persistent rise in accidents underscores the need for continued efforts to enhance road safety measures and public awareness.
