Kerala Makes Maritime History: PM Modi Inaugurates Vizhinjam International Seaport, A Game-Changer for India’s Port Network

Thiruvananthapuram: In a landmark moment for Kerala and India’s maritime ambitions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Vizhinjam International Seaport today, dedicating the state’s long-awaited dream project to the nation. This marks the commissioning of the port’s first phase and is expected to significantly boost Kerala’s role in global trade and logistics.

Arriving at the port around 10:15 AM, the Prime Minister toured the Port Operations Centre, reviewed the infrastructure, and officially inaugurated the berthing facility, setting the stage for full-scale operations.

The high-profile event was attended by dignitaries including Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal, Suresh Gopi, George Kurian, and state ministers, along with MPs, MLAs, Mayor Arya Rajendran, and Adani Group heads Gautam and Karan Adani.

Prime Minister Modi landed in Thiruvananthapuram the previous night and was received warmly by the Chief Minister and public representatives before staying at Raj Bhavan in preparation for the milestone event.
