Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has announced ₹10 lakh in educational assistance for children who lost their parents in the devastating Meppadi landslide. The aid will support seven children who lost both parents and 14 children who lost one parent in the tragedy.
The financial assistance aims to ensure uninterrupted education and overall well-being of the affected children. The government has pledged to provide long-term support, including scholarships, accommodation, and psychological counseling, to help them rebuild their lives.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan emphasized that the state is committed to standing by the families affected by natural disasters. The funds will be disbursed through the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF), and further welfare measures will be implemented as needed.
