Gold prices in Kerala continue their downward streak, falling ₹440 today to ₹73,440 per sovereign (8 grams). The per-gram rate now stands at ₹9,180, down ₹55 from yesterday.
The drop comes after gold touched a record ₹75,760 per sovereign on August 8. Since then, prices have shed a hefty ₹2,300 within 12 days. Earlier in the month, gold was trading at ₹73,200, before climbing more than ₹2,500 in a week and then reversing sharply from August 9 onward.
Analysts attribute the fall to global pressures, with U.S. tariff hikes on Indian imports weighing on investor confidence and cooling demand.
