The Kerala government has taken stern action after a draft Class 4 teachers’ handbook, prepared by SCERT, wrongly claimed that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose “fled to Germany, fearing the British.” The error, flagged by educators and critics, sparked widespread criticism. Education Minister V. Sivankutty confirmed that the controversial line has been removed, the corrected version uploaded, and the editorial panel members responsible will be barred from future academic work. Stressing the need for historical accuracy, Sivankutty asserted that Kerala will not allow any distortion of history and promised that all future curriculum revisions will strictly adhere to facts.
