Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly refuted allegations of irregularities surrounding the ₹600 crore Palakkad brewery project. He affirmed that the project aligns with the state’s liquor policy, designed to enhance revenue and create substantial job opportunities, including 650 direct and 2,000 indirect roles.
Addressing environmental concerns, Vijayan assured that the project would not strain local water resources, with plans to source water from the Kerala Water Authority and implement rainwater harvesting. The facility will also include a 6 MW power generation unit, ensuring no waste discharge into the environment.
Highlighting the state’s “ease of doing business” approach, the Chief Minister encouraged similar industrial initiatives to boost Kerala’s economic growth. He dismissed opposition claims of corruption, stating there is no evidence to support such allegations and confirmed that the project would proceed as planned.
The government views the brewery project as a key step toward industrial development, showcasing its commitment to sustainable economic growth while addressing public and environmental concerns.
