Following the resignation of Director Ranjith, the Kerala Chalachitra Academy is actively seeking a new chairperson. The Kerala Department of Cultural Affairs has assured that the appointment process will be expedited.
The new chairman will play a pivotal role in overseeing preparations for two major film events: the Cinema Conclave in Kochi in November and the International Film Festival in Thiruvananthapuram in December. Additionally, the 2023 Film Awards are scheduled to be presented prior to the film festival.
The government is also working on a comprehensive Cinema Policy, which will be a key topic of discussion at the upcoming conclave.
In the interim, the Vice Chairman and actor Premkumar is expected to manage the academy’s affairs until a new chairman is appointed. Premkumar had previously overseen the academy’s activities during Ranjith’s health-related absence.
