Kerala continues to reel under unpredictable weather as isolated heavy rainfall is expected across parts of the state. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for six districts — Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod — with rain intensity projected between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Meanwhile, coastal areas are on high alert due to the “Kallakkadal” phenomenon, with sea incursions likely along the shores of Thiruvananthapuram (Kappil to Pozhiyoor) and Kollam (Alappad to Idava), as well as the Kanyakumari coast (Neerodi to Arogyapuram), where waves may rise up to 1.7 meters. The National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has urged fisherfolk and coastal residents to remain vigilant. Additionally, strong winds ranging from 45 to 65 km/h are expected over the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Mannar, and parts of the Bay of Bengal through August 11, making fishing activities highly unsafe. Authorities have strictly advised against venturing into the sea during this period.
