Thiruvananthapuram: The monsoon has regained momentum over Kerala, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to revise its rain forecast with a warning of widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state in the coming days.
Today, an orange alert has been issued in four districts—Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, and Kasaragod—signaling the possibility of intense rain. The IMD attributes this weather shift to the strengthening of westerly/northwesterly winds over Kerala and a cyclonic circulation over the northwest Bay of Bengal, near the Odisha coast and Gangetic West Bengal.
As per IMD predictions, Kerala will continue to experience heavy downpours till Sunday, with wind speeds reaching up to 50–60 km/h on June 14. The entire state is expected to witness widespread rainfall on Sunday.
