Kerala Braces for Four Days of Heavy Rain; Orange Alert in Multiple Districts, Strong Winds Expected

Kerala is set to experience four more days of intense monsoon activity, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing orange alerts for several districts. A cyclonic circulation over the Mannar Sea and southern Tamil Nadu is fueling the widespread rainfall, prompting authorities to urge public caution. On Monday, six districts — Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur — are under orange alert, while others remain on yellow alert. The same pattern continues on Tuesday, with Palakkad joining the list. By Wednesday, the focus shifts to the northern districts, as Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod come under orange alert. Rainfall is expected to ease slightly from Thursday, though Kannur and Kasaragod will still face heavy showers. The IMD has also warned of strong winds reaching up to 60 km/h and has banned fishing activities along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coast until Thursday, urging fisherfolk to stay ashore.
