KCBC  wants Government to stop  misuse of minorities’ scholarships

KOCHI, July 14 (IVC)    The  Jagratha (Vigilant)  Commission of  the  Kerala  catholic Bishops” Council (KCBC) has  urged  the  State government to  take immediate steps to  end the  misuse of the scholaships meant  for  the  minorities.

                The  report of the Comptroller   and Accountant  General (CAG) laid on the floor of the Kerala Assembly on July 11 found  serious  irregularities  and lapses in the  disbursement of the minorities scholarships in Kerala, the  statement  issued  by the secretary  of  the  Commission, Fr  Michael  Pulickal said.

                According  to  the  CAG report, there  has been  lackadaisical approach  in accepting applications and  following the  regulations in the pre and post-metric scholarship awards in between 2017 and  2022, he  added. The statement  also claimed  that that  thousands of  applications for  scholarship had  not  been processed  while  there  were instances  where  more  than  two  students from  a  family received scholarships.
