Bengaluru: In a groundbreaking move, Karnataka has announced plans to develop Kwin City, a parallel urban hub to Bengaluru, covering 2,000 acres with a staggering investment of Rs 40,000 crore. This visionary project aims to create a dynamic ecosystem focused on sectors such as knowledge, health, innovation, and research, effectively mirroring Bengaluru’s rapid growth.
Situated approximately 60 kilometers from the bustling city of Bengaluru, between Doddaballapura and Doddaspet, Kwin City is projected to generate 80,000 new jobs and attract startups, global health institutions, educational organizations, and research centers. The city will emphasize emerging fields including life sciences, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, defense, semiconductors, and future mobility.
Kwin City’s strategic location boasts proximity to Kempegowda International Airport, just an hour away, and excellent connectivity via national highways and the Bengaluru-Hubbali-Mumbai Express Rail Line, enhancing its appeal to potential investors.
The project will also incorporate a 465-acre solar farm, expected to generate around 0.69 megawatts of electricity, along with sustainable rainwater harvesting systems. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has highlighted that Kwin City will emerge as a premier knowledge and health hub, propelling the state’s economic development and attracting global talent.
This ambitious initiative is set to redefine Karnataka’s economic landscape and establish the state as a global leader in innovation and research, setting a new benchmark for urban development in India.
