New Delhi: Senior Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer K Srikar Reddy has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to Qatar, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Friday.
Srikar Reddy, a 2001-batch IFS officer, is currently serving as the Consul General of India in San Francisco, United States. He will succeed the current envoy and is expected to assume his new diplomatic assignment in Doha shortly.
In a statement, the MEA said, “He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.”
The appointment comes at a time when India and Qatar continue to strengthen their strategic partnership, with cooperation spanning trade, energy, investment, defence, and the welfare of the large Indian diaspora living in the Gulf nation.
As India’s new envoy, Reddy will play a key role in further enhancing bilateral ties and advancing cooperation between New Delhi and Doha across multiple sectors.
