Jay Shah Set to Become ICC Chairman, Replacing Greg Barclay

Mumbai– Indian cricket is poised to make a significant impact on the global stage as Jay Shah, the current Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is all set to become the next Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The announcement is expected to be made soon.

The incumbent Chairman, Greg Barclay, has confirmed his decision to step down from the role after his tenure ends in November. Barclay’s decision comes after being informed of Shah’s intentions to replace him. Shah has secured the backing of cricket boards from England and Australia, ensuring his election as the new ICC chief.

Shah will join a distinguished list of Indian cricket administrators who have led the ICC, including Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar. At 35, Shah will become the youngest ICC Chairman in history.

The election for the ICC Chairman position will take place in November, and Shah is expected to secure a comfortable majority with the support of several member boards. His appointment marks a new era for Indian cricket and signifies the country’s growing influence in the global cricketing landscape.
