External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Thursday underscored the importance of resilient and diversified supply chains, sustained diplomatic engagement and enhanced international cooperation to address the challenges arising from ongoing global conflicts.
Speaking at the Kultaranta Talks in Finland during a panel discussion titled “Emerging Powers and the New Geopolitical Competition,” Jaishankar highlighted that the effects of conflicts are no longer confined to the regions where they occur, but have far-reaching consequences for economies and societies worldwide.
The discussion brought together Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen, UAE Assistant Foreign Minister Lana Nusseibeh, and Jaishankar to examine shifting global power dynamics, emerging geopolitical rivalries and contemporary security concerns.
Following the session, Jaishankar said that ongoing conflicts are imposing significant costs and driving changes that extend well beyond their immediate geographical boundaries. He stressed the need for countries to strengthen supply-chain resilience and work collectively through diplomacy and international partnerships to mitigate the impact of global crises.
The deliberations at the forum focused on evolving geopolitical competition, economic security and the role of emerging powers in shaping the future international order.
