ISRO Achieves Historic 100th Rocket Launch; GSLV-F15 Deploys NVS-02

In a landmark achievement, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched its 100th rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F15), soaring 50.9 meters tall, lifted off at 6:23 AM IST, deploying the NVS-02 navigation satellite into a geosynchronous transfer orbit just 19 minutes post-launch. Marking ISRO’s first mission of 2025 and the 17th flight of the GSLV, this milestone underscores India’s rapid strides in space technology and self-reliance. The NVS-02 satellite, a second-generation Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) system, is designed to enhance India’s navigation infrastructure with advanced indigenous atomic clocks. It will play a vital role in terrestrial and aerial navigation, disaster management, and vehicle tracking, further strengthening India’s independent navigation network. ISRO Chairman S. Somanath hailed the mission as a significant step towards global leadership in space technology, reinforcing India’s position as a spacefaring nation.
