Instagram Tightens Rules: Live Streaming Now Limited to Users with 1,000+ Followers

Instagram has announced a major policy change that will restrict who can go live on the platform. From now on, only public accounts with at least 1,000 followers will be able to start live streams. Previously, live streaming was open to all users regardless of their follower count.

The move is expected to impact smaller creators and everyday users, many of whom relied on the feature to engage with their audiences. The update has already triggered mixed reactions online, with some calling it unfair to emerging creators.

Interestingly, Meta — Instagram’s parent company — has not revealed the reason behind this shift, sparking speculation about the motivations driving the new restriction.
