IndiGo Refunds ₹827 Crore and Returns Half of Stranded Baggage After Flight Disruptions

Mumbai: IndiGo has refunded a total of ₹827 crore to passengers affected by large-scale flight disruptions over the past two weeks, according to reports. The airline has also managed to return nearly half of the stranded baggage across airports, handing back around 4,500 out of 9,000 delayed bags.

The refunds cover tickets booked between November 21 and December 7. During this period, 9,55,591 tickets were cancelled. Notably, cancellations between December 1 and 7 alone accounted for refunds worth ₹569 crore, all of which have now been processed and returned to passengers.

Of the 9,000 pieces of baggage stuck across various airports, IndiGo has so far delivered 4,500 to their owners. Airline officials have assured that the remaining bags will be returned within the next 36 hours. To oversee this process, IndiGo has set up a dedicated crisis management group.

Earlier, the central government had directed IndiGo to refund all pending ticket amounts promptly and ensure that all stranded baggage was returned within two days. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has been closely monitoring the airline’s compliance with these directives.
