Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded India’s significant strides in eradicating tuberculosis, highlighting innovative programs and effective treatments that have led to a 17.7% decline in TB cases between 2015 and 2023—a rate surpassing the global average of 8.3%.
Key initiatives such as the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, which provides nutritional support to TB patients, and the BPALM regimen for drug-resistant TB have played a pivotal role. Additionally, the Nikshay Mitras program encourages public participation, fostering a community-driven approach to patient care.
PM Modi attributed this success to dedicated healthcare workers and reinforced the goal of a TB-free India by 2025, five years ahead of the global target.
