Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, describing it as a wise and timely decision that aligns with the people’s desire for peace.
“The people and the nation want peace. Ending the conflict at the border and striving for harmony is a mature decision. While maintaining a firm stance against terrorism, the government’s focus remains on peace and the state’s progress,” the Chief Minister said.
Due to the escalating tensions at the border, the state government had earlier decided to suspend its fourth anniversary celebrations. However, in light of the ceasefire coming into effect, the CM has directed that the annual events will now proceed as scheduled from May 13.
Key programs including district and state-level meetings, the ‘Ente Keralam’ exhibition, and regional review sessions will resume from May 13 as originally planned.
The Malappuram district-level meeting, which had been postponed, and other events originally slated up to May 13, will be rescheduled, with new dates to be announced soon.
