India is expressing strong confidence in Africa’s upcoming transformation and is actively seeking to strengthen its relationship with Nigeria, a key nation on the continent. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently visited Nigeria and addressed the India-Nigeria Business Forum, emphasizing the vast potential for collaboration between the two countries.
Jaishankar stated, “If there are some big geopolitical bets India is taking, it is on the rise of Africa. We are betting that in the next decade, we are going to see an amazing transformation here.” He highlighted India’s commitment to Africa’s growth by opening more embassies, encouraging trade and investment, and fostering political and cultural connections.
The EAM acknowledged the need for joint efforts to overcome obstacles and identify new opportunities in various sectors, including digital technology, green energy, and agriculture. He assured Nigerian businesses of promising opportunities in India and expressed India’s willingness to share its expertise and experience for mutual benefit.
Jaishankar’s visit to Nigeria marks a significant step towards solidifying bilateral relations between the two nations.
