Palakkad: The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has issued a red alert in Palakkad district due to dangerously high levels of ultraviolet (UV) rays. Authorities have urged the public to take adequate safety precautions, as prolonged exposure to UV rays can lead to sunburn, skin diseases, eye disorders, and other serious health risks.
Residents have been advised to limit outdoor activities during peak sunlight hours, wear protective clothing, use sunscreen, and stay hydrated. KSDMA officials have also emphasized the importance of wearing sunglasses to protect the eyes from UV damage.
With rising temperatures and intense sunlight, health experts warn that vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and outdoor workers, should exercise extreme caution. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and may issue further advisories if necessary.
