After a brief break, the southwest monsoon has become active again across Kerala. The southern districts are receiving the most rainfall. Heavy rain has been reported in the hilly regions of Thiruvananthapuram. According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall is likely to spread to more areas, including the northern districts, by Wednesday or Thursday.
Initially, most districts — especially the hilly regions — are expected to experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. The central and southern districts are likely to receive heavier rainfall. Today, isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Alappuzha districts are likely to receive heavy rain.
As a precautionary measure, a yellow alert has been issued in these districts. Rainfall measuring between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours is classified as heavy rain.
