Thiruvananthapuram: The Transport Department has decided to appoint a committee to examine complaints raised by private bus operators against the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation’s (KSRTC) new Priyadarshini scheme.
The decision was taken after Transport Minister C.P. John held discussions with Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan. The committee will study the impact of the scheme and suggest measures to address the challenges faced by the private bus sector.
Private bus owners have alleged that the implementation of the Priyadarshini scheme has caused significant revenue losses, even as the initiative has gained popularity among commuters. They have urged the government to intervene immediately to protect the interests of private bus operators.
Following these complaints, the government has decided to constitute a committee to review the issue and recommend appropriate solutions.
