New Delhi: In a decisive crackdown on digital platforms accused of circulating obscene material, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blocked five OTT platforms following due legal procedure. The platforms — MoodXVIP, Koyal Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel, and Jugnu — were found to be streaming content deemed objectionable and in violation of existing laws and digital content regulations.
According to official sources, the action was taken after a detailed review of the content hosted on these platforms and in compliance with provisions under the Information Technology Act and the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules. Authorities stated that the platforms repeatedly streamed explicit material that breached India’s content standards, prompting regulatory intervention.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to ensuring that digital streaming services adhere to legal and ethical guidelines. Officials emphasized that while creative freedom is respected, content that violates public decency norms and legal boundaries will not be tolerated. The government also signaled that monitoring of OTT platforms will continue, with strict action against those found flouting regulations.
