Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala continue their downward slide, marking a significant drop of over ₹4,000 per sovereign within just ten days. After a sharp ₹1,640 dip on Wednesday, prices fell again by ₹160 today, bringing the rate of one sovereign (8 grams) down to ₹70,040. The per-gram rate also dropped ₹20 to ₹8,755.
This price correction began on April 23, right after gold appeared to be racing past the ₹75,000 mark. Interestingly, gold had only crossed the ₹70,000 threshold on May 12, following a dramatic surge.
Though a brief rebound saw prices climb by ₹320 recently, the fall has now resumed, reflecting ongoing volatility.
Experts attribute the fluctuations to global economic uncertainties. Despite the dip, gold continues to hold investor appeal as a trusted safe-haven asset.
