Kochi: Gold has hit a historic high in Kerala, crossing the ₹70,000 mark per sovereign (8 grams) for the first time ever. On Saturday, prices climbed to ₹70,160, with a ₹200 jump in a single day. The price per gram now stands at ₹8,770, up by ₹25.
This surge continues a three-day rally in gold prices. On Thursday, the price skyrocketed by ₹2,160, followed by another ₹1,480 hike on Friday.
Experts attribute this bullish trend to global economic uncertainty, fueled by tariff hikes in the US under former President Trump’s policies, which have triggered instability in international markets.
With stock markets fluctuating, investors are increasingly turning to gold as a safe-haven asset, pushing prices to record-breaking levels. Market analysts predict that the demand for gold may continue to rise if global uncertainties persist.
