Kochi: Gold prices in Kerala are on an upward streak, climbing for the third straight day. On Thursday, rates jumped by ₹520 per sovereign (8 grams), pushing the price to a striking ₹75,760 per sovereign. The price per gram also rose by ₹65, now standing at ₹9,470.
This surge brings gold back to the record high first touched on August 8, after slipping by nearly ₹2,300 in just 12 days. At the start of the month, gold was priced at ₹73,200, but within a week, it had skyrocketed by more than ₹2,500 before briefly dipping again.
Analysts point to global factors—such as the US hike in import duties on Indian gold—alongside gold’s enduring appeal as a safe-haven investment, as key drivers behind the rally.
